“Project Power”

On May 22nd 7 students from the School District 54 Trades and Technical program participated in a pilot project called “Project Power” with BV Electric Ltd. The visionaries behind this project was Monica Strimbold, Trades Coordinator for School District 54 and Philippe Bernier, Director, Community Relations and Business Development.  The concept saw the students exposed to service jobs and equipment seen as a journeyman electrician. Located at BV Electric’s head office in Telkwa BC, Project Manager, Blair Ongman and Safety Coordinator, Daryl Wilson led the students through a day of various operational items. After the safety orientation the students prepared a 200 amp pole that will one day power a house or building in our area. The 7 students walk away from the project with BV Electric hard hats, visibility vest and work gloves. The project was a great success and we at BV Electric look forward to continuing this project with the school district 54 with the aspiration to develop future electricians.
