COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIPS
BV Electric is actively engaged in the community and supports many local organizations and fundraising events. BV Electric has been a long-time supporter of program events such as the Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club, Creative Roots Performing Art Studio, Bulkley Valley Hospital Foundation and the Smithers Rotary Club. We strongly believe in hiring and supporting local talent; for instance, we have a ‘local first’ policy for hiring electricians. We have also developed programs with local First Nations communities to help identify and support local apprenticeships.
Coast Mountain College
We have partnered with CMC to develop the BV Electric “powering your future” financial award. We have established a yearly award that helps future electricians with a financial award towards their first year electrical foundation tuition. This is an example of how committed we are in developing future trades people to work and service our communities for years to come.

Diversity
For over 30 years our staff has been working throughout the north west of British Columbia and have relations with various First Nations groups. We are actively working with the following groups:
Gitanyow, Witset, Skin Tyee, Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanmaax, Gitxsan, Burnslake Band, Tahltan, Wet'suwet'en, Fort Babine Band, Lake Babine nation, Gitwangak
BV Electric is proud to create and foster ‘win-win’, mutually beneficial partnerships in Northern BC and in all the regions in which our projects serve. We are committed to providing long-term social and economic contributions to our First Nations communities.
The Smithers Ski Club
The Smithers Ski Club has been training athletes for over thirty years. Thanks to the tireless dedication of parents and coaches they have produced many provincial and national team members. At its height the club boasted thirty alpine members, twelve of which were racing at the elite FIS level and traveling throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
The club also operates the grass roots Nancy Greene Ski Program that provides ski instruction and race training to kids from the ages of 5 to 11 years old. The program has grown to become one of the largest in the province.
BV Electric has been providing financial support to the Smithers Ski Club since 2006 and will continue to provide support in the future.
Bulkley Valley Health and Hospital Foundation
BV Electric has been a long time supporter of the BVHF. The company participates in the annual gala and donates a live auction item each year. BV Electric is also a proud donor of the foundation.
Smithers Junior Softball Society
Dear Gary,
Just a note to say Thank You on behalf of Smithers Junior Softball Society and the children and youth of the Bulkley Valley! BV Electric’s support of a team in our House League, Squirt Division made it possible for our kids to enjoy a season of softball. Because our society is comprised of volunteers, every dollar of your sponsorship contribution went directly back into the softball program. I also wanted to let you know about some accomplishments our softball league has made, in part due to your support. In 2011, we hosted 2 spring indoor skills clinics in partnership with the Town of Smithers; an NCCP Level 2 coaching clinic for our team coaches; and a Softball BC umpires clinic that provides paid umpiring opportunities for our community’s youth during this season.

Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre
For years the BVCDC has been supporting families across the valley with a number of essential services for developing children. In recent years the CDC raised enough money to build a new centre and BV Electric was proud to have sponsored this project with $25,000 in contributions to the project. We now have a room sponsored in the centre and are so excited for the expansion of services that CDC can now provide to families.
Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament and Rotary Auction
BV Electric continues to support these two great groups and causes. The support the both groups provide back to the community is amazing we look forward to continuing to support these events and groups.
Smithers Charity Golf Tournament started in 1992 as a fundraiser for the Bulkley Valley Child Development Center to help fund a new facility. The BVCDC offers support in Hazelton, Houston, Smithers, and surrounding areas. The BVCDC services include speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and many more. BV Electric is proud to be a sponsor of this fabulous event for such a great cause.
